Snowed in because of the impending doom – snowpocalypse 2018?
We have you covered with these 7 tips and tricks to keep you and your family busy!
*Please listen to all warnings from your local weather service do not travel if it’s not necessary. Check in on your elderly neighbors and bring your pets indoors!
Stay safe and have fun in the SNOW with our 7 activities!
1. Make Snow Cream
- granulated sugar
- milk (you can use any kind of milk)
- vanilla extract
Whisk the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until combined. Then pop the bowl in the freezer while you run outside to get your snow.
Immediately stir the snow into the milk mixture, and keep adding until an ice-cream-ish consistency is achieved. It should be fluffy and scoop-able, but not runny.
it melts really quickly, so dish it up right away.
You can either eat it just as is or add in sprinkles. Lots and lots of sprinkles. I vote sprinkles. 🙂
2. Come Inside and Binge Netflix
Just grab a pet or family member & snuggle up on the couch and escape into another world!
DIY sleds are the best! You can build them with the family out of almost anything.
- Trashcan lid
- Cookie Sheet
- Boogie Board
- Yoga Mat
- Inner Tubes
Practice caution when choosing a hill to sled down, avoid roads and hills that will send you crashing into a creek/pond.
4. Still Bored? Break out the Board Games
Try to pick games that will include everyone in your family. My vote is always a “Strategy” game like Monopoly it could last for minutes, hours or days!
or switch it up and make it an adult game with some wine! Cards Against Humanity or Scrabble can become extremely competitive and hilarious.
Examples of other family-friendly games:
- Battle Ship
5. Snow Angels
This may be a new one for some locals. It’s very easy! lay on your back and wave your arms like your doing a jumping jack. Your body will leave an angel like impression in the snow.
It’s oddly satisfying!!!
6. Build a Fort
Build a blanket or pillow fort here is how!
7. Snow Ball Fight!
We saved the best for last, make it a competition but don’t build you snowballs too big!
